At a waste management facility in Morrisville, PA, workers sort trash. Among them are buckets of loose change.
The Wall Street Journal reports Americans discount the 68 million dollars in lost change. Some get left behind at airport security gates or slip into car and sofa cushions. They get vacuumed and end up in one of those buckets.
What does this small, insignificant treasure do?
Ask Sara and Justin Ilse. They built their entryway using nothing but pennies, 65,507 of them. Some of this money came from jars kept by relatives and then forgotten.
Small treasures have value.
Small incidents get overlooked and forgotten.
In Matthew 25, the value of small treasures astonished both the sheep and the goats. It meant the difference in their eternities. Those who used the small acts of kindness, received a well-done from the Master. Those who ignore the value face banishment.
Each day presents opportunities for small treasures, those moments where a smile or a kind word changes an entire day. It never seems worth much, but in eternity, they collect.
Don’t throw away the moments, for in them are the small treasures.
