The Astronaut

Kaden is not a typical nine-year-old, but he still has his dreams.

Kaden has a heart condition that keeps him in the hospital. But he dreamed of space.

Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they connected him with astronaut Jose Hernandez. The Amazon Prime movie A Million Miles Away chronicles Hernandez’s own story.
The meeting included a guided tour of NASA. It was the time of his life.

More importantly, it kept him going through his illness. His mother described the meeting this way.

“Everything was amazing! Thank you! Kaden had a blast. My cheeks never hurt so much from smiling so hard.”

Everyone needs someone to lift them when times are low.

Paul spoke of lightening loads.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)

The church is not about places to sit in pews but people who need a shoulder to lift a burden. No one knows how much weight some carry, and few realize the power of a welcome, a smile, or a kind word.

You don’t have to be famous to boost someone; just be courageous enough to take the step.
