Tan Flippin found himself in a hospital with a fractured hip. A bicycle accident left him injured.
But it was a blessing.
The doctors ordered a CT scan to determine if Flippin had a concussion. That’s when they found it.
On the front of Flippin’s brain was a large, malignant tumor.
They immediately started treatment which included bone marrow transplants. Today, Flippin is cancer free.
Many times, people have problems in life that they cannot see the point. Is it punishment for something? Bad luck? No one appreciates these interruptions. “If God loved me, he would not have let this happen.”
Yet, life’s fingernails-on-a-chalkboard experience polish character to a high gloss.
James reminds readers in their fiery furnaces:
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2–4, ESV)
Broken bones lead to healing. Pain produces endurance. It is not pleasant in the valley but glorious on the summit.
Trust that God knows what he is doing. Hold to his hands in tough times and he will lead you to a better place.
