Encased in a glass case in Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building lies a letter unread.

To know its contents, you must wait 62 years.

Queen Elizabeth II wrote the letter in November 1986 on the opening of the building. She gave specific instructions. “On a suitable day to be selected by you in the year 2085 A.D., would you please open this envelope and convey to the citizens of Sydney my message to them.”

You can open one letter but may not be able to read it.

When Jesus explained his use of parables, he explained that some people can read and understand, but many cannot.

“And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.” (Matthew 13:11, ESV)

God has given us a gift, a letter to tell us who he is and what he is. He unsealed it and said, “read.” Yet, many put the Bible away, pages stuck together, gathering dust.

You will know what the queen said in another 62 years if you are young enough.

But everyone can read God’s letter if he has the heart to hear the words. Do you have the ears to hear?
