In life—and in my yard—timing really is everything.
We have two large Texas live oaks in our yard. For months, their leaves danced in the wind, providing a playground for squirrels.
It was quiet.
Peaceful. Dormant.
And now? My parked car gets pelted with acorns that sound like a dozen gunshots. They litter the ground like green pellets.
I had no warning. But the tree knew—it was the right time.
(My opinion? There’s never a right time to be assaulted by nuts!)
Everything has a time.
Solomon said it, and the Byrds sang it:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
Ask Moses. He learned about the seasons.
At forty, he acted as a would-be deliverer and killed a brutal taskmaster beating an Israelite. His heart was right—but his timing wasn’t.
Doing the right thing in the wrong season is still wrong.
A farmer plants in the spring, not in the winter.
So Moses fled to the desert.
There he tended sheep, moving from one watering hole to another. He endured the desert’s heat and cold. He pondered and waited. Time seasoned him.
Then, at eighty, it was the right time.
From a bush that burned without being consumed, God spoke:
“Deliver my people.” No wonder Moses hesitated—he’d tried that once.
But this time was different because the time was different.
The right thing done at the right time brings the blessing.
Someone once wrote:
It’s one thing to do the will of God; it’s another to do it God’s way, in God’s time.
So what time is it in your life?
We grow frustrated when our plans stall, when progress slows, or when doors seem to close. Don’t quit—wait.
Even God waited.
It took millennia for His purpose to unfold, but when the time was right:
“When the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” — Galatians 4:4 (NIV)
It was the season for fruit. And in God’s good time, His purpose was fulfilled.
Don’t grow discouraged or quit trying. Many times, God’s “No” is really “Not yet.”
It takes greater faith to wait for the right moment because timing is everything.
So—what time is it in your life?
